Do you sometimes find yourself “stuck,” suffering from brain fog, or having difficulty sleeping at night? If so, you are not alone!
There are many reasons why this could be happening. It can result from feeling over-extended and overwhelmed by not having not enough time to get things done while the tasks continue to pile up. Or maybe stress on the job or a life occurrence has you feeling forced to function when you don’t feel like it. Not to mention that you are still trying to cope with this new normal that exists for all of us.
Being stuck happens to everyone, but it often feels that you are the only one when you are going through it. Trust me that is not the case!
The best way to get on the path to mental wellness is by first acknowledging where you are and make no apologies for it. Not sure how or where to start once you decide to take the path to mental wellness? Well, there are many ways to begin. Here are three foolproof ways to get yourself on the road to feeling better, both inside and out!
1. Target your senses to create a much-needed mind-body connection. Here are a
few ways:
- Sound healing – music therapy that involves either listening or singing to music
- White noise – the complete range of audible sound wave frequencies which correspond
to every visible wavelength of the color spectrum, like cymbals, snare drums, or ocean
waves, help you sleep because other sounds are blocked out
- Scents – Aromatherapy, essential oils, and fragrances (herbs & flowers)
2. Get some restful sleep. Here are some products you might consider:
- Eye covers – Blocking light entering the room can help prevent sleep interruptions
- Gadgets – Sleep trackers can help to determine your sleep activity and are also helpful in
identifying sleep disorders
- Over-the-counter supplements – herbal, botanicals, food & beverages with brain and
health benefits
3) Add meditation as a part of your daily ritual.
- Take at least 15 minutes at the beginning or end of your day to be still, only focusing on
your breathing while being present and blocking out any distractions. You will be amazed
by the clarity of mind that you achieve!
- If guided meditation is preferred, books, apps, and streaming is available via electronic
devices and tv
Once you can implement some (or all, maybe!) of these suggestions, you are on your way to feeling better and ready to keep the momentum going!
